  Emerest Family Caregiver Program (FCP) is a program that helps individuals (21 years old or older) remain living at home instead of relying on long term care such as assisted living or nursing homes. This program enables family members or friends acting as a primary caregiver, to get paid to care for a loved one in their own home.

  Emerest understands the sacrifice being made by family and friends to care for a loved one at home. Through FCP, you can receive direct compensation for your hard work while keeping your loved one safe in the comfort of their own home.

• Who is Eligible?

  Family member or friend receiving care must be:

  • 21 years old or older;
  • You have Medicare / Medicaid (includes individuals with Medicare Part A and/or Part B);
  • Live in Pittsburgh area (Including Beaver, Allegheny, Westmoreland, Washington and Greene Counties);
  • Need help with day-to-day activities.

  *Ineligible if receiving services from the Department of Human Services’ Office of Developmental Programs, residing in a government nursing facility, or having an intellectual or developmental disability.

• Who Can I Choose as a Caregiver?

  The uniqueness of Family Caregiver Program is that clients can choose their own caregiver. However, please note the caregiver must:

  • Live in the same house as the client in need of care;
  • Cannot be a legally liable relative such as a legal spouse or POA.

• What is the Process?

  Once Emerest receives approval to begin services, you will be contacted by one of our trained professionals. They will set up an appointment to conduct an initial assessment in the home of the client.

  After the initial assessment is completed, the level of care will be determined and the program can officially start! The caregiver will be trained and receive on going 24/7 support from our Emerest professional team. Throughout the program, there will be weekly follow-ups and bi-monthly nursing visits.

• How Does the Caregiver Get Paid?

  Emerest FCP caregivers are compensated based on the level of care that is determined by the initial assessment. Emerest understands that caregiving is a labor of love, that is why Emerest provides the best rates in the state. Emerest FCP caregivers receive weekly tax-free payments.
